Start praying for your child’s teacher

“Teacher’s are a bright light, a friendly face and a gentle guide.”

As we pull into her school, there’s nothing more important for me as a parent than to pray – for my daughter, for her teachers, for her classmates and their families and for their protection and safety as they step in, together, to their own little world to learn and grow.

My daughter has been blessed with pretty amazing teachers. But, halfway into the school year, it seemed her teacher was a little off — delayed emails, incorrect homework assignments …  And, I wasn’t the only one who noticed. In fact, other parents would reach out to me, confused, too. Before we knew anything about the divorce she was going through, my daughter and I simply started to pray for her together. And, it was a couple of months later when I walked into her classroom for a conference, that I found myself listening to more personal details of her life, and also sharing details about mine. And, just as we were getting ready to leave, she said, “This was nice. It was nice to just talk. I’m human too.” It was in that moment I understood the purpose for our prayers. And then, my daughter looked up at her and told her we’d been praying for her and that made her teacher cry. She thanked my little one and they hugged at least three times.

How often do you remember your child’s teacher by praying for them? The truth is our children’s teachers need encouragement, too, especially considering that they’re such a huge part of our children’s lives. So, together, let’s pray.

Pray that they will be reminded, especially on the hardest of days, the reason they were called to pour into the next generation. Pray for peace and discernment in their lives. Pray for their patience. Pray for their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual endurance.

Friends, families, classmates, teachers, staff … I hope you know that in my house we’re praying over you — whether you are a Christian or not. And through these prayers, I hope you’re finding the strength, peace, comfort, patience and protection we ask God for every day.
